The Magic of Letting Go ✨

There’s something surreal about reading your own story for what feels like the hundredth time.
This week has been filled with line edits, query letters, synopsis revisions, and rereading nearly 90,000 words as I prepare my manuscript for agent submissions.
If you've ever wondered what an author's life looks like before a book finds its way onto a shelf, let me paint you a picture.
It's coffee that's gone cold because you've been staring at the same paragraph for twenty minutes.
It's opening a document with every intention of fixing a comma and somehow resurfacing three hours later after rewriting an entire chapter.
It's questioning every sentence you've ever written, only to stumble across a scene that reminds you exactly why you started this journey in the first place.
As I prepare my query package and polish my opening pages, I've found myself slipping back into the lives of these characters. Not as their creator, but almost as a reader.
I know what's coming.
I know every heartbreak.
Every misunderstanding.
Every secret.
And somehow, those moments still hit me.
Maybe that's the strange thing about writing a novel. You don't just write a story once. You live it over and over again.
You experience the excitement of first meetings. The slow burn of attraction.
The tension that leaves you turning pages long past bedtime. The angst that makes you want to throw the book across the room.
The moments that make your chest ache because you know two people belong together, even when they don't realize it themselves.
As I've been revisiting this manuscript, I've been reminded why I fell in love with these characters in the first place.
I've watched them make mistakes.
I've watched them break.
I've watched them heal.
And every time I read their story, I discover something new hidden between the lines.
There's a particular kind of vulnerability that comes with querying agents. For years, this story has existed mostly in my head, on my laptop, and in conversations with a handful of trusted readers. Soon, I'll be sending it into the world and asking complete strangers to spend time with these people who have become so important to me.
That's equal parts exciting and terrifying.
Mostly exciting.
Because after all the revisions, late nights, deleted chapters, rewritten scenes, and countless cups of coffee, I can finally see the finish line coming into view.
This story is closer than it's ever been to finding its readers.
The readers who love emotional tension.
The readers who crave second chances.
The readers who want to feel every triumph, every heartbreak, and every hard-earned happy ending.
For now, I'll keep polishing pages.
Keep tweaking query letters.
Keep rereading scenes I promised myself I wouldn't touch again.
And maybe, just maybe, allow myself to enjoy this season of the journey.
Because someday I'll look back and realize these were the final moments before the story left my hands and found its way into someone else's.
And honestly?
I can't wait.
